Slipper Clutch

This is our race-developed and race-proven slipper clutch for Kawasaki’s new parallel twin 650 cc engine as used in the ER-6, Ninja 650-R and Versys motorcycle.

With none of the existing companies producing a slipper clutch for the ER-6, we had little alternative to developing our own. After a few iterations, and with considerable input from engineers involved in British Superbike racing, we now have a very well functioning unit.

Our design follows the typical six ramp design but does not use ball bearings on the ramp. Having the much larger contact surface of the plain ramp provides a far smoother slipping action if adequate lubrication is maintained (see below). Many of the top spec racing clutches have gone back to the plain ramp and are no longer using ball bearings.

In addition, we have taken advantage of the wet clutch design on this bike and have incorporated an automatic ramp lubrication method. This greatly prolongs the reliability and consistency of the slipping action between service intervals.

We will ship this product complete. To make installation as easy as possible it comes with the pressure plate bearing already installed and we also include the additional (6th) clutch spring (original Kawasaki part).
